Overview
Sun Road Shinshigai is one of the streets in the downtown district of Chūō-ku, Kumamoto, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is a covered arcade running perpendicular to the west from the southern end of the Shimotōri arcade, beyond which lie Karashima Park and the Sakuramachi bus terminal. With a width of 18 meters, it is said to be the widest arcade in Japan.

History
It has long been familiar as one of the covered arcades making up the downtown district of Chūō-ku, Kumamoto. Running west from the southern end of Shimotōri, it lies on a route leading toward nearby parks and a bus terminal.
