Overview
Cape Ashizuri is a headland at the southernmost tip of the Japanese island of Shikoku, in the city of Tosashimizu, Kōchi Prefecture. The promontory extends into the Pacific Ocean and marks the western end of Tosa Bay. It lies within Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park.

History
In earlier times it was also called Sada-misaki. The official name was originally Ashizuri-zaki, but as tourism developed a debate over renaming arose, and in 1965 the Tosashimizu city assembly adopted Ashizuri-misaki, the widely used popular name, as the official designation.
Access
The cape lies in the city of Tosashimizu in southwestern Kōchi Prefecture, at the tip of the Ashizuri Peninsula facing the Pacific Ocean.
Best season
As a cape overlooking the Pacific, times when the horizon is clearly visible are well suited to the view. Because of its exposed coastal setting, keeping an eye on changing weather is advisable.

💡 Coastal erosion has left a number of caves around the cape, among them Hakusan Cave, designated a Prefectural Natural Monument and said to be the largest granite cave in the country.
