Overview
Wanpark Kochi Animal Land is a municipal zoo operated by the city of Kochi and attached to the Wanpark Kochi complex in Sanbashi-dori, Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture. It opened in 1993 by relocating the former Kochi Municipal Zoo, which had stood at Kochi Castle. The zoo is notable for its conservation and breeding of rare species native to Shikoku.

History
The zoo opened on April 2, 1993, created by relocating the former Kochi Municipal Zoo that had previously stood at Kochi Castle. In 2011, it became the first member facility of the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums to successfully breed the Tosashimizu salamander (then classified as the Oita salamander).
Access
It is located in Sanbashi-dori, Kochi City, accessible from the urban area. The site occupies the former grounds of the Kochi racecourse.

With its indoor exhibition hall, the facility can be visited comfortably in any season.
