
Overview
Yokohama Marine Tower is an observation tower about 100 meters tall in the Yamashitacho district of Naka Ward, Yokohama. Built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Port of Yokohama's opening, it stands beside Yamashita Park as one of the city's landmarks and once also served as a lighthouse.

History
Planned as a project marking the centennial of the Port of Yokohama's opening, the tower was built by Shimizu Corporation and opened on 15 January 1961. It long functioned as a lighthouse before that role ended. After renovation from 2006 it reopened in 2009, and following work begun in 2019 it reopened again in September 2022.

Best season
The hours after sunset are ideal for the night view. The clearer air of autumn and winter offers longer, farther-reaching visibility.
