History
Hibita Shrine is held to be one of the candidate shrines for a minor Sagami Province shrine among the thirteen listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho of 927. Its founding is placed around the year 800, and over the centuries it has drawn the faith of local people. Known by its alternative name Koyasu Myojin, it remains a place of continual worship as a deity of safe childbirth and child-rearing. Though Sagami Province holds other similarly named shrines, this shrine has followed its own path as the Koyasu Myojin enshrined at Kamikasuya.
