Overview
Enoshima Aquarium, affectionately nicknamed "Enosui," sits within Shonan Coast Park on Katase Beach in Fujisawa, Kanagawa. Making the most of its location facing Sagami Bay and Enoshima island, it puts the marine life of the surrounding sea at the heart of its displays. It is the successor to the older Enoshima Aquarium and reopened on April 16, 2004.

History
The aquarium traces its roots to July 19, 1952, carrying on the legacy of the long-loved original Enoshima Aquarium. The current building, designed by Nikken Sekkei, opened in 2004 and became known for exhibits such as its large Sagami Bay tank. It is accredited as a museum-equivalent facility under Japan's Museum Act by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, giving it an educational and research role as well.

The aquarium lies on Katase Beach in Fujisawa, near latitude 35.30 and longitude 139.47. It is within walking distance of stations on the Odakyu Enoshima Line and the Enoden, making it easy to combine with a walk around Enoshima and Katase Beach. Best season
Facing Sagami Bay, the aquarium can be enjoyed year-round, though summer brings extra crowds as visitors combine it with beach and Enoshima sightseeing. Because the displays are largely indoors, it is also a dependable destination on rainy days.
