Overview

Odori Park is a long, ribbon-like urban park in Naka Ward, Yokohama. It stretches slenderly from around JR Kannai Station, with the subway station Isezaki-chōjamachi roughly at its center, toward Bandōbashi Station. Created by filling in a former waterway, the green strip is dotted with sculptures, water channels, and plazas. Though right beside the bustling Isezakichō shopping district, it serves as a downtown oasis for residents to stroll and take a break.

History

Odori Park opened on September 9, 1978. It was laid out along a waterway that once ran through the city, forming a slender green space that threads through the downtown—a park born of Yokohama's urban development. Since opening it has been embraced alongside the city through local events and the placement of sculptures, maturing into a green promenade that graces the urban axis from Kannai to Bandōbashi.
