History
Tsukui Castle is said to have been built here by the Miura clan during the Kamakura period. In the Warring States era it served as the residence of retainers of the Later Hojo clan, functioning as a strategic point against the Takeda of Kai. It fell during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Odawara Campaign in 1590 and was subsequently abandoned. Remains such as baileys and trench cuts still survive, and the lush park allows visitors to imagine its former appearance.
