Overview
Sentakuji is a temple of the Jodo (Pure Land) school located in Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Said to have been founded in 1491, it has carried more than five centuries of history. It is also counted among the sacred sites of the Jun-Saigoku Inage Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage, making it a place with deep ties to Kannon worship. History
Sentakuji is an old Pure Land temple said to have been established in 1491, upholding the Pure Land teaching centered on the nembutsu invocation of Amida Buddha. It has also served as a sacred station of the Jun-Saigoku Inage Thirty-three Kannon Pilgrimage, welcoming pilgrims making the rounds of Kannon Bodhisattva from long ago. The temple is located in Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City. Nakahara-ku is an area along the Tama River centered on Musashi-Kosugi, reachable from stations on the Tokyu lines and the JR Nambu Line. Best season
For pilgrimage or a quiet visit, the mild seasons of spring (April to May) and autumn (October to November) are recommended.
