Overview
Take-yama is a 206.1-meter mountain rising in the southern part of Yokosuka, forming one corner of the Miura Hills in the center of the Miura Peninsula. Because it is low and easy to reach, well-maintained hiking trails make it approachable even for beginners. An observation deck and rest area at the summit offer sweeping views over the Miura Peninsula.

History
The summit is home to Takeyama Fudo (Takeyama Fudo-in of Ryuzukazan Jikyo-ji), which has long drawn worshippers praying for safety at sea. Every year on January 28, the Hatsu-Fudo festival brings many visitors and lively crowds. As both a mountain of faith and an accessible hiking destination, it has been cherished by local people for generations.
Access
The mountain lies in the southern Miura Peninsula in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. At its foot are the Tsukuihama tourist farm and Tsukuihama Beach, and access from around Tsukuihama Station on the Keikyu Line is convenient. Best season
More than 2,000 azaleas grow in the vicinity, reaching their peak around May. In autumn the mountain becomes a passage for migrating hawks such as gray-faced buzzards and Oriental honey buzzards, drawing many observers and photographers to the observation deck. Each season offers a different face, from flowers to migrating birds.

💡 From the observation deck the whole Miura Peninsula spreads out before you, and on clear days you can see as far as Izu Oshima, the Izu Peninsula, and even Mount Fuji. Nearby are Miura Fuji, one of the local Fuji-shaped peaks, and Hodaiyama, a hill known for the ruins of former Imperial Navy gun batteries, making this an area where history and nature intertwine.
