
Overview
Okinoerabujima is an island in the southwestern part of the Amami archipelago, belonging to Ōshima District of Kagoshima Prefecture. It lies about 60 kilometers north of the main island of Okinawa, near latitude 27° north and longitude 128° east, and is made up of the two municipalities of Wadomari and China. The island covers about 93.63 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 14,000.
