
Overview
Kakeromajima is an island of the Amami archipelago, lying just south of Amami Ōshima across the Ōshima Strait, and administratively part of the town of Setouchi in Kagoshima Prefecture. It covers an area of about 77.39 square kilometers and is marked by an intricate ria coastline. The island is known for the contrast between its coral-white beaches and the blue sea called "Kakeroma blue."

History
