
Overview
Shoura Island is one of the islands making up the Nagashima archipelago within the Amakusa Islands, belonging to Nagashima, Izumi District, Kagoshima Prefecture. It has a population of about 500 and is also known by the alternative name Motoura Island. The island comprises three districts: Shirase, Motoura, and Kuzuwa.

History
The Shoura area also takes in part of the main island of Nagashima and the nearby islands of Nojima, Kuroshima and Takeshima; Shoura Island itself makes up most of the ōaza of Shoura.
Access
The island belongs to Nagashima in Izumi District, Kagoshima Prefecture, and together with the neighbouring islands forms the Nagashima archipelago.
