Overview
Mount Miyanoura rises to 1,936 metres in the central part of Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture. It is the highest peak of Yakushima and also the highest peak of the Kyushu region and of the Nansei (Ryukyu) Islands. The surrounding range is registered as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Yakushima."

History
Rising 1,936 metres in the centre of Yakushima, it is the highest peak of the island, of the Kyushu region, and of the Nansei (Ryukyu) Islands. The range is registered as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Yakushima." It is counted among the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, the 100 Famous First Order Triangulation Station Mountains, and the 100 Famous Kyūshū Mountains.
Access
It belongs to the town of Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture, and is reached by trails into the central part of the island.
