Overview
The Teshima Art Museum stands on the island of Teshima in Tonoshō-chō, Shōzu District, Kagawa Prefecture. Conceived through the collaboration of artist Rei Naito and architect Ryue Nishizawa, it opened on October 17, 2010, as part of the Benesse Art Site Naoshima.

History
The building was designed by architect Ryue Nishizawa, co-founder of SANAA, while sculptor Rei Naito created the artwork housed within it, titled "Matrix." It opened in 2010 during the Setouchi Triennale, and the building went on to receive the BCS Prize. It was built on a hillside in the northeastern part of Teshima, overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.
Access
Visiting the Teshima Art Museum requires taking a boat to Teshima island in Tonoshō-chō, Shōzu District, Kagawa Prefecture. Admission is by online reservation, so checking availability before visiting is necessary.
Best season
Two large openings in the roof let outside air and sunlight into the building, so its atmosphere shifts with the season and weather, offering a different impression depending on the time of year.
