
Overview
Hachimantai is a mountain of 1,614 metres and the highland plateau surrounding it, straddling the border between Akita and Iwate Prefectures. It is counted among the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains selected by Kyūya Fukada. In 1956 it was designated part of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park.

History
