History

Because of its elevated position, the shrine is designated as a tsunami evacuation site. Many local residents took refuge there during the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011.

The shrine is located on a hill overlooking Kuji Bay in Minato-chō, Kuji City. As the approach involves a slope, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Best season

The view of Kuji Bay from the hilltop is especially striking on clear days; the shrine can be visited year-round.
