History
The museum opened in October 1986 as the Mattо Municipal Nakagawa Kazumasa Memorial Museum of Art. Because Mattо was the hometown of Nakagawa's mother, Suwa, the artist donated his own works, which became the basis for its founding. Following a municipal merger in February 2005, it was renamed to its current title, the Hakusan City Nakagawa Kazumasa Memorial Museum of Art.
