History

The facility opened in 2002 in Daishoji, Kaga, the birthplace of Kyuya Fukada, to honor his achievement in writing 'One Hundred Famous Japanese Mountains,' a landmark of Japanese mountain literature. Its buildings reuse three structures of the former Yamacho Textile company, which ran a weaving business here from the Meiji era onward. For their historical value they are registered as National Registered Tangible Cultural Properties and recognized as Modernization Industrial Heritage, binding together the region's industrial heritage and the memory of the writer.

The museum stands in Daishoji, Kaga City, Ishikawa. It is said to be within walking distance of Daishoji Station on the JR Hokuriku Line, making rail travel from the Kanazawa or Fukui directions convenient. By car, the Kaga interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway and others can be used. Opening hours, closed days and admission may change, so please confirm official information before visiting.
