Spread across a wide site, it offers sports facilities including a baseball stadium and a gymnasium, and is cherished as a local hub for exercise and recreation. From watching games and jogging to family outings on a day off, it accommodates a wide range of activities, making it one of Hakusan's representative parks for its residents.

Highlights

  • A wide site gathering facilities such as a baseball stadium
  • A history of community sport dating to its 1985 opening
  • A park name that preserves the old city of Matto
  • Open space usable for strolling and jogging

History

Matto Sports Park opened in July 1985. It was developed by the former city of Matto, now part of Hakusan, to promote residents' health and encourage sport, and since opening it has served as a venue for local tournaments and events. Even now, after municipal mergers made it a park of Hakusan, it remains a central presence supporting community sports.

Access

Located in Hakusan, the park sits in a corner of the Kaga Plain that spreads southwest of Kanazawa. It is easily reached from the Hokuriku Expressway and nearby main roads, making it convenient to visit by car. If using public transportation, it is wise to check the nearest station and bus services in advance. Please confirm opening hours and how to use or reserve each facility through official sources.

Best season

Spring and autumn, when outdoor sports and jogging are pleasant, are especially recommended. In summer you can use facilities with night lighting from the evening, and in winter the indoor gymnasium, letting you enjoy the park by season. As event days can be crowded, checking the schedule before visiting makes for a more comfortable trip.
