
Overview
The Tedori River is a Class A river that flows mainly through Hakusan City in Ishikawa Prefecture before emptying into the Sea of Japan. It originates on Hakusan, the highest peak in Hakusan National Park, and flows in a generally northern direction. Widely used for irrigation and hydroelectric power, it is one of the rivers that represent Ishikawa Prefecture.

History
The river rises on Hakusan, on the border between Ishikawa and Gifu Prefectures, and flows to the Sea of Japan. In earlier times it was also known as the Ishikawa, and it became the origin of the names of both Ishikawa County and Ishikawa Prefecture. In 1577, the Battle of Tedorigawa is said to have been fought on the banks of this river.
