It is dedicated to the deities Oyamakui no Kami and Omononushi, and is said to have been founded in 733 (Tenpyo 5). History

According to tradition, the shrine's founding dates back to 733, making it one of the oldest in Kanazawa. It jointly enshrines Oyamakui no Kami, a deity of the Hie (Hiyoshi) faith, together with Omononushi. The shrine suffered damage in the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, yet its faith continues to be handed down under the care of local residents.
