History

According to shrine tradition, it was founded in 1860 (Man'en 1). At this time near the end of the Edo period, Mito was the castle town of the Mito domain, one of the three senior Tokugawa branches, known for its scholarship and spirited character. Uka-no-Mitama-no-Ōkami is the Inari deity governing bountiful harvests and prosperity in business, and it is thought that the faith in life's fruits and success rooted this shrine in the Kurisaki district.
