The Port of Kobe is a maritime port in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, designated an International Strategic Port under the Ports and Harbors Law. It is one of Japan's five major international trade ports and, together with the Port of Osaka, has been designated a Super Hub Port. It opened on January 1, 1868, and is managed by the city of Kobe.

History
The Port of Kobe opened on January 1, 1868. Located at the foothills of the Mount Rokko range, where flat land is limited, it has been developed through the construction of artificial islands such as Port Island and Rokko Island. Under the Port Regulations and Customs laws it is regarded as part of the Port of Hanshin, forming the Kobe district of that port.
