
Overview
Takeno Beach is a beach of white sand and green pines in Takeno, Toyooka, Hyogo Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan on the Takeno coast, east of the Nekozaki Peninsula. It is a shallow, gently sloping beach stretching about 800 meters from east to west, with notably clear water. The Takeno coast, including Takeno Beach, lies within the San'in Kaigan National Park and the San'in Kaigan Geopark.

History
Takeno Beach lies on the Takeno coast facing the Sea of Japan and has long been known for its white sand and green pines. Owing to its clear water, it has been chosen for the Ministry of the Environment's list of 100 fine bathing beaches, the 100 Beautiful Beaches of Japan, and other selections, making it one of Japan's representative swimming beaches. In summer it draws around 500,000 bathers.
Access
It is located in Takeno, Takeno-cho, Toyooka, Hyogo Prefecture, spreading out on the eastern side of the Nekozaki Peninsula.
Best season
Summer, the swimming season, is the main period, when the beach is at its most crowded. It is the season to enjoy the exceptionally clear water.
