Overview
Itsukushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Kushiro, Hokkaido. It faces east on a plateau above the Pacific near Cape Shirito and has long been revered as a guardian deity of the people of Kushiro, with Yonemachi Park adjoining its grounds.

History
The shrine is said to have been founded in 1805, at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Its former shrine rank was prefectural shrine (kensha). A statue of Yakushi or Kannon attributed to the monk-sculptor Enku has been designated a Prefectural Cultural Property.

The shrine sits on high ground near Cape Shirito along the coast of Kushiro, Hokkaido. It is reachable from central Kushiro; check maps and official sources for detailed routes.
Best season
The Pacific views are best in the fresh air of summer and in seasons when the air is clear. A visit can be paired with the scenery from the cape.
