
Overview
Rokka Forest is a garden facility operated by the confectioner Rokkatei in Nakasatsunai, Hokkaido, which opened in 2007. Spread across roughly 10 hectares along the Sanban River, the grounds include a confectionery factory, art museums, a museum shop and a restaurant. The design was conceived to blend with the surrounding natural environment.

History
Rokkatei launched the "Rokka Forest Project" to build a new factory for its "Marusei Butter Sandwich" and to develop the entire site. Obayashi Corporation designed both the factory and the landscape across the roughly 10-hectare grounds, and the facility opened in 2007. The design received the AACA Prize and the AIJ Prize.
Access
The site is located in Nakasatsunai, Kasai District, Hokkaido, and is most conveniently reached by car.
Best season
The green months from spring through autumn, when the plants and flowers flourish, are well suited to walking the grounds.
