History
The JMSDF Kure Museum was established in 2007 and opened to the public on 5 April of that year. It is intended to hold exhibits related to minesweeping and submarine operations. Its main exhibit, the diesel-electric submarine Akishio, gives the museum its nickname, the "Iron Whale Museum." The museum also displays a number of torpedoes.
