Sakisaki Shrine held the former shrine rank of village shrine (sonsha) and has been widely worshipped in the area as a deity of sericulture, reflecting the historical importance of silk-worm raising in the region. A market was traditionally held in connection with the shrine's spring festival, and it was said that goods bought there would bring good fortune to one's silkworms.
