
Overview
Mount Shibutsu is a 2,228.1-meter mountain located on the border between Minakami and Katashina in northeastern Gunma Prefecture. Situated at the western edge of the Ozegahara wetland, it is regarded, together with Mount Hiuchi, as one of the principal peaks of the Oze area and is counted among the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains.

History

Access
The mountain lies on the border between Minakami and Katashina in northeastern Gunma Prefecture, with a trail accessible from the western edge of Ozegahara.
Best season
Known as a treasure trove of alpine plants, the mountain is best climbed in summer when the flowers are in bloom.
