Overview
The Nagara River has its source at Mount Dainichigatake in the city of Gujō, Gifu Prefecture, and empties into Ise Bay at the city of Kuwana, Mie Prefecture. With a length of 166 km, it is counted among the Kiso Three Rivers. Together with the Shimanto and Kakita Rivers, it is regarded as one of Japan's three clear streams.

History
Rising at Mount Dainichigatake in Gujō, Gifu Prefecture, it joins the Ibi River and empties into Ise Bay. It was formerly known as the Sunomata River. Together with the Kiso and Ibi Rivers, it is counted among the Kiso Three Rivers that flow across the Nōbi Plain.
Access
Flowing from Gujō in Gifu Prefecture to Kuwana in Mie Prefecture, the riverside can be reached from the urban districts along its course.
Best season
Known as a clear stream, its water volume and surrounding scenery change with the seasons, offering a different aspect throughout the year.
