History

Water Eco Park was developed to make the most of the rich waterside environment of the Kiso River basin, offering a place to learn about and enjoy the relationship between rivers and people. Within the grounds are Aquatotto Gifu, an aquarium displaying freshwater fish from around the world; the Kiso River Water Park, which recreates the river's natural landscape; the Nature Discovery Hall for hands-on nature experiences; and the Aqua Restoration Research Center studying river environments. Together they link play and learning. Check official sources for each facility's background and highlights.

Access

The park is in Kawashima-Kasada-cho, Kakamigahara City, at roughly 35.37 degrees north and 136.81 degrees east, along the Kiso River. It can be reached from the Oasis Park side, which is integrated with the Kawashima Parking Area of the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, making car access convenient. As the highlights are spread across separate facilities in this large park, it is wise to confirm your target facility and parking through official information in advance.

Best season

As a park built for enjoying water and greenery, spring through early summer and autumn are especially recommended for comfortable time outdoors. The indoor Aquatotto Gifu aquarium can be enjoyed regardless of weather or season, so it is reassuring on hot summer days or rainy ones. The Ferris wheel at Oasis Park offers views that change with the seasons.
