
Overview
Nihon Taishomura is an open-air-museum-style retro theme park in Akechi-cho, Ena City, Gifu Prefecture. The whole town serves as its stage, with buildings and streetscapes that preserve the atmosphere of the Taisho era scattered throughout, so you can wander into the world of Taisho Romanticism on foot. Opened in 1984, it is a one-of-a-kind destination where the town of Akechi collectively keeps and passes on the memory of the Taisho period.

History
Nihon Taishomura opened on May 6, 1984. Rather than a single facility, it was conceived as an open-air museum that uses the very townscape of Akechi-cho, Ena City, as its stage, preserving and making use of Taisho-era buildings and ambience. Highlights within the village include the Nihon Taishomura Museum, the Taisho Roman-kan, the Nihon Taishomura Town Hall, and the Former Miyake Family Residence, with Akechi Station serving as the gateway that welcomes travelers.
Access
The village lies in Akechi-cho, Ena City, near 35.30 N and 137.39 E. Akechi Station on the Akechi Railway is the gateway, and the sites within the village can be toured on foot from the station. By car it is reachable from the Ena area or the Chuo Expressway, with parking nearby. Please confirm opening hours and closing days for each facility through official information.
Best season
The cherry blossoms and fresh greenery of spring and the autumn foliage make strolling the retro streets pleasant and photogenic. Since much of the fun comes from walking outdoors, seasons with mild weather are recommended. Prepare for strong sun in summer and cold in winter.
