History

The Bandai Highland was formed by the 1888 eruption of Mount Bandai. The eruption dammed the Nagase River and its tributaries, creating lakes such as Lake Hibara, Lake Onogawa, and Lake Akimoto, as well as smaller ponds like Goshiki-numa.

Access

The area is located in northern Fukushima Prefecture, a plateau at an elevation of about 800 meters surrounded by Mount Bandai, Mount Adatara, and Mount Azuma. As the attractions are spread across a wide area, please check maps or official information for specific routes.
