Overview

Seiryu Cave is a limestone cavern on the Hiraodai plateau in Yamaguchi, Karita, Miyako-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture. Lying beneath Hiraodai, a plateau famed for its karst scenery, it is a cave shaped over long ages as water dissolved the limestone, leaving stalactites and underground chambers as its highlights. The contrast between the gentle grassland spreading across the plateau above and the cavern hidden beneath conveys the depth of nature unique to Hiraodai. Whether visits are permitted and how much is open are best checked through official information.
