Mount Asuwa

Overview

Mount Asuwa is a hill rising to about 116 meters in the southern part of central Fukui City. Rather than a rugged peak for serious climbing, it is a beloved recreational hill whose summit and slopes have been developed into a park, home to the Asuwayama Park amusement area with its zoo, along with a museum and an art museum.

History

The mountain preserves an old cluster of burial mounds (kofun), making it a site that speaks to Fukui's ancient past.
