
Overview
Wakasahiko Shrine is a Shinto shrine in the city of Obama, Fukui Prefecture, and the ichinomiya of former Wakasa Province. It is a shikinaisha (myōjin taisha) whose former rank was that of a national medium shrine, and it is today a beppyō shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. It is a twin shrine of two halls, the upper Wakasahiko Shrine and the lower Wakasahime Shrine.

History
Founded in the year 714 by tradition, the shrine has long been revered as the ichinomiya of Wakasa Province. It was listed among the shikinaisha as a myōjin taisha, held the former rank of national medium shrine, and is now a beppyō shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. It is also called the Onyū Myōjin after the district name.
