
Overview
Hakatajima is an island belonging to Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture, sitting near the center of the Geiyo Islands in the Seto Inland Sea. It covers about 20.84 square kilometers. History
As a strategic point on the Seto Inland Sea, Hakatajima has seen people and goods pass through for centuries, nurturing a deep familiarity with ships and the sea. Access
The island lies off the coast of Imabari City at roughly 34.22 degrees north and 133.08 degrees east. The Shimanami Kaido (Nishiseto Expressway) runs across it, so you can reach it by car or bicycle from the Onomichi side of Honshu or the Imabari side of Shikoku.
