Overview
Dogo Park is a prefectural city park in Matsuyama, Ehime, formed around the medieval ruins of Yuzuki Castle and their surroundings. Chosen as one of Japan's 100 Best Historical Parks, it gathers the Yuzuki Castle Museum, traces of the former Ehime Prefectural Dogo Zoo era, and the Shiki Memorial Museum of Matsuyama. Right beside the famous Dogo Onsen, it lets you savor history, nature, and culture all at once.

History
Tracing the park's story, it was opened in 1888 and marked another major milestone on July 1, 1964. It began as a botanical garden, and the medieval ruins of Yuzuki Castle, built atop the hill, still remain. The castle site has been laid out for lookouts and strolling, conveying the layered history of the castle town of Matsuyama to this day.
Access
The park lies in Dogo Koen, Matsuyama City, at roughly 33.85 degrees north and 132.79 degrees east, next to the heart of Dogo Onsen. From central Matsuyama, the convenient way is to take the Iyotetsu tram toward Dogo Onsen. Please check official information for opening status and details of each facility.

Dogo Park is renowned as a cherry-blossom spot, and its trees are designated as the sample trees of the Matsuyama Local Meteorological Office, serving as an indicator of the cherry-blossom front.
