Overview
Iyo Kokubun-ji is a Buddhist temple of the Shingon Risshu sect located in the Kokubu district of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. Its full name is Kongo-zan Saisho-in Kokubun-ji, and its principal image is a statue of Yakushi Nyorai. It is known as Temple 59 on the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage.

History
Iyo Kokubun-ji is the successor to the provincial temple (kokubun-ji) of former Iyo Province, established in the Nara period. Its full name is Kongo-zan Saisho-in Kokubun-ji, and it belongs to the Shingon Risshu sect. The foundation stones of its Nara-period pagoda, which remain on the grounds, were designated a National Historic Site in 1921.

As a pilgrimage temple, it can be visited calmly during periods of stable weather.
