Overview

Urayasu is a city in the northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture. Its total area is about 17.3 square kilometres, with a population of roughly 170,000. It has the highest population density in Chiba Prefecture.

History

The municipality traces its origins to 1 April 1889, and city status was granted on 1 April 1981. Once part of Higashikatsushika district, it now belongs to the Katsunan area. Within the city lies Tokyo Disney Resort, which opened in April 1983.

Access

The city lies in the northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture, adjacent to Tokyo.
