Overview

Tokyo DisneySea is a theme park in Maihama, Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, forming part of the Tokyo Disney Resort. It opened on 4 September 2001 and is known as the only Disney park in the world built around a sea theme. The park is owned by the Oriental Land Company, established with investment from firms including Keisei Electric Railway and Mitsui Fudosan, and licenses its themes from the Walt Disney Company.

History

The park opened on 4 September 2001 as one of the facilities making up the Tokyo Disney Resort. From its opening it was conceived as a Disney park built around the sea.
