History
The Mama River branches from the Edo River in western Chiba Prefecture and flows into Tokyo Bay as a first-class river of the Tone River system. It is regarded as the trace of the "Mama Inlet" that appears in the legend of Tekona of Mama, sung of in the Man'yōshū. The river takes its name from the place-name Mama.
