History

Shinryu-ji is a Nichiren temple handed down in Matsudo, upholding a faith grounded in the daimoku 「Namu Myoho Renge Kyo」. The Nichiren sect was founded by the priest Nichiren in the Kamakura period and took root early in Matsudo, then part of Shimousa Province. Shinryu-ji is one temple that shares in that regional devotion. For details of its founding and history, it is most reliable to check with the temple or Matsudo City's official information.
