Overview
Saishō-in is a temple of the Chisan branch of the Shingon school in the Dōyamachi district of Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, with the mountain name Kongō-san and the temple name Kōmyō-ji. Among five-story pagodas designated Important Cultural Properties, its pagoda is the northernmost in Japan. The temple is said to have been founded in 1532.

History
Saishō-in is a temple of the Chisan branch of the Shingon school said to have been founded in 1532. Its five-story pagoda is designated an Important Cultural Property and is the northernmost such pagoda in Japan. Over its long history it has carried on Buddhist practice in Hirosaki.
