
Overview
Tsuchizaki Gaiku Park is an urban block park in the Tsuchizaki port district of Akita City, Akita Prefecture. It was once also called Tsuchizaki Park or Tsuchizaki Children's Park. A neighborhood green close to daily life in the port town of Tsuchizaki, it is cherished as a place of rest for local residents. It makes a fine spot in the middle of town to pause during a day of sightseeing.

History
Tsuchizaki Gaiku Park opened on October 13, 1915 (Taisho 4), and has now accumulated more than a century of history. From its earliest days it was loved by the children and residents of the port town of Tsuchizaki, and though its name has changed with the times, it remains rooted in the community as a block park. As a long-established urban park, it has quietly watched over the changes of Tsuchizaki.

It lies in the town of Tsuchizaki facing Akita Port, close to Tsuchizaki Station on the railway. As a park in the heart of town it can be enjoyed year-round, but the leafy months of spring into early summer are especially pleasant. In summer the nearby Tsuchizaki Minato Hikiyama Festival fills the port town with excitement. Winter brings snow, so watch your footing when you visit.
