Overview
Nanakura Shrine is a shrine in the Kokutsugi area of Futatsui-machi, Noshiro, Akita Prefecture. Its mountain title is Mount Nanakura, and it formerly held the rank of prefectural shrine. Across the Yoneshiro River rises Mount Nanakura with its seven peaks, and part of Noshiro and the mountain can be seen from the precincts.

History
According to shrine tradition, it was founded in 658 (the fourth year of Empress Saimei) by Abe no Hirafu. It is also known as Tenjin Nanakura Shrine and formerly held the rank of prefectural shrine. The name is read "Nanakura" and not "Nanaza."
Access
It stands in the Kokutsugi area of Futatsui-machi, Noshiro, and is usually reached by heading in from the surrounding Futatsui district.

The seasons of fresh greenery and autumn foliage best set off the contrast between the Yoneshiro River and Mount Nanakura.
