The Nagoya City Art Museum is an art museum in Naka-ku, Nagoya, located in Shirakawa Park. It opened on 22 April 1988 and was designed by the architect Kisho Kurokawa. The building is celebrated as one of his representative works.

History
The museum was planned in the early 1980s, and collection building began in 1983. Kurokawa, a native of the region, incorporated motifs from Nagoya's traditional buildings into the design. It opened on 22 April 1988. Its collection has developed around four principal areas: local art from the Nagoya cultural region, the École de Paris, the Mexican Renaissance, and postwar and contemporary art.
